How many porta potties do you need for a party?
A party of 50 guests for up to 4 hours needs 1 standard porta potty. A party of 100 guests needs 2. Add 1 unit if the party runs 5 to 8 hours, and 1 more if alcohol is served. Public events with a cluster of units should make at least 5% wheelchair-accessible.
| Guests | Up to 4 hours | 5–8 hours | 5–8 hours with alcohol |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50 | 1 | 2 | 3 |
| 100 | 2 | 3 | 4 |
| 150 | 3 | 4 | 5 |
| 200 | 4 | 5 | 6 |
| 300 | 6 | 8 | 10 |
| 500 | 10 | 12 | 15 |
Worked example: a 200-guest graduation party for 6 hours with beer starts at 4 units (200 ÷ 50). Add 1 for the 6-hour length. Add 1 because alcohol is served. The party needs 6 units. Try the event calculator with your numbers.
When is a party porta potty delivered and picked up?
A party porta potty is delivered before your event, usually the business day before, and picked up the next business day after. A Saturday party unit arrives Friday and leaves Monday. You pay one flat event price, so the extra days cost nothing. Same-day delivery is possible when you call early.
The driver calls about 30 minutes before arrival. You do not need to be home; mark the spot with a cone, chalk or a photo. Holiday weekends, such as the Fourth of July and graduation weekends, book out first, so reserve 1–2 weeks ahead when you can.
Should a party have a handwashing station?
Yes, if food is served. A standard porta potty has hand sanitizer but no sink, so add a handwashing station for food events. At Riverside County and other California temporary food events, restrooms with handwashing must be within 200 feet of food booths. A deluxe flushing unit has its own sink.

Our recommendation: 1 two-sided handwashing station for every 3 standard units at food events. Place stations at the end of the row, facing the party, so guests see them on the way back.
Where should party porta potties be placed?
Place party porta potties on flat ground, at least 20 feet from food and seating, downwind if possible, and within sight of the party. Pick a spot the driver can reach with a dolly through a gate at least 4 feet wide. Leave lighting nearby for evening events.
- Avoid sprinkler heads, septic lids and soft lawn after watering
- Turn the doors away from the main seating area for privacy
- Night party? A porch light or string lights near the units helps guests
- Public park or street event? Check the Fontana special event permit rules first

Event porta potty questions
Answers to questions renters ask us before they book.
How much does it cost to rent a porta potty for a party?
A standard party porta potty in Fontana typically comes to about $250–$330 all-in for one event period, including delivery, setup, paper, sanitizer and pickup. Holiday weekends and same-day orders can add a rush fee. See the full price guide.
Can I rent a porta potty for just 4 hours?
Yes, but the price is a flat event rate, not an hourly rate. The unit arrives before your event and is picked up the next business day, so a 4-hour party and a full-day party cost the same.
Is it more expensive over the Fourth of July?
Holiday weekends book up early and same-day trucks are limited. Reserve 1–2 weeks ahead for the Fourth of July, Memorial Day and graduation weekends to get the unit and delivery day you want.
Can I add another unit if my guest list grows?
Yes. Call as soon as the count changes. A second unit added to the same delivery is cheaper than a separate trip, because only one delivery charge applies.
Does the standard porta potty come with hand sanitizer?
Yes. Every standard event unit is stocked with toilet paper and a hand sanitizer dispenser. It does not have running water.
Can I move the porta potty myself after delivery?
No. Please do not move the unit yourself. It can tip and spill. Call us and we will reposition it.
What happens if it rains on my event?
Porta potties are built for outdoor use and work fine in rain. Pick a spot that does not collect water, and avoid soft lawn so the unit stays level.
