How often are porta potties serviced?
Porta potties on monthly and jobsite rentals are serviced once a week. A standard unit's roughly 60-gallon tank is sized for about 200 uses, so weekly service fits a crew of up to about 10 workers per unit. Larger crews, events on site, or summer heat call for 2 or more services a week.
What happens during a porta potty service?
During a porta potty service, the tech pumps the holding tank, scrubs and sprays the interior, wipes the seat and urinal, adds fresh deodorizer and water to the tank, restocks toilet paper and sanitizer, refills any sink, and checks the door, latch and vent.
- Pump the waste tank
- Wash and sanitize walls, floor, seat and urinal
- Recharge the tank with deodorizer
- Restock paper, sanitizer, soap and towels
- Check latch, vent and stability

One-day and weekend event porta potties arrive cleaned and stocked and usually need no service during the event. Multi-day events, festivals and units serving more than about 50 guests a day should book a service visit each night.
